Aluminium Name Plates: Adding a Personal Touch to Your Home Decor
When it comes to turning a house into a home, the devil is in the details. From carefully selecting furniture to choosing the perfect color scheme, homeowners strive to create a personalized and welcoming atmosphere. However, one often overlooked aspect of home decor is the name plate. A name plate not only adds a touch of individuality to your home but also serves as a warm greeting for your guests. If you're looking for a unique and customized name plate for your home, consider the elegance and versatility of aluminium name plates.
Aluminium name plates have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their durability, sleek design, and adaptability to various home decor styles. Whether your preference leans towards modern minimalism or traditional charm, aluminium name plates can be customized to match your desired aesthetic and seamlessly blend with your home's overall look.
Durability is one of the key advantages of aluminium name plates. Unlike other materials that may deteriorate over time, aluminium name plates are built to withstand the test of time. They are resistant to rust, corrosion, and fading, making them an excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor use. This means that your customized name plate will maintain its stunning appearance for years to come, regardless of weather conditions or environmental factors.
Another significant benefit of aluminium name plates is their versatility in customization. With a wide range of design options available, you can unleash your creativity and design a name plate that truly reflects your style and personality. Whether you prefer a classic monogram, an intricate pattern, or a unique font, the possibilities are endless. Additionally, you can choose from a variety of colors and finishes to harmonize with your home's color palette and create a cohesive look.
If you're unsure about the design or need assistance in bringing your vision to life, consider consulting a local name plate maker. These professionals specialize in crafting customized name plates and can guide you through the entire process, from design selection to installation. By working closely with a name plate maker, you can ensure that your name plate is precisely tailored to your preferences, creating a truly one-of-a-kind piece for your home.
When choosing a name plate maker, it's crucial to consider their expertise, reputation, and customer reviews. Look for professionals with experience working with aluminium and a proven track record of delivering high-quality products. Examining their portfolio can give you a sense of their craftsmanship and design capabilities. Additionally, selecting a name plate maker near your location can make the process more convenient and efficient.
In conclusion, a customized aluminium name plate is an excellent addition to your home decor. Its durability, versatility, and ability to be personalized make it a superior choice. By collaborating with a local name plate maker, you can bring your vision to life and create a name plate that adds a personal touch to your home. So, instead of settling for a generic name plate, invest in a customized aluminium name plate that truly reflects your personality. Make a lasting impression on your guests by showcasing a name plate that stands out and enhances the beauty of your home.

Effeffe Berlinetta
Berlinetta is a name of the past, a name that conjures up a very specific type of car: a high-performing sports car with closed bodywork, a 2-seater (or 2+2 at most). The name Berlinetta embodies all the philosophy of the first car made by Effeffe. A car built today in exactly the same way as craftsmen moulded the famous GTs in the late 1950s: the mechanics borrowed from the series and redesigned to suit new needs, a hand-made chassis and bodywork. All starting from a blank sheet. An original car with a strong personality, in form and in deed, which is the best possible homage to the skill of these craftsmen. A generation we have perhaps forgotten, that offered the Italian car tradition - and the history of motoring generally - plenty in terms of uniqueness, charm and design. A product built and finished by hand, like in the past, with a tubular chassis, hand-beaten aluminium bodywork and wire wheels, seeking to guess and please the taste of the owner, expressing a timeless character.
The Berlinetta prototype was born in 2014, little more than a scale model. Made and finished, but not running: the mechanics are approximate, and it has never really been fine-tuned. But it is beautiful. An authentic time-machine. It seems as if it has just been found in a hay barn and dusted down. In addition, being practically a style model, its lines are pure and smooth, not “dirtied” by license plates or indicators. So beautiful, in fact, that, almost as a game, the Frigerio brothers sent a few photos to the people in charge of the Concorso di Eleganza di Villa d’Este. And, a surprise, they sent an invitation to present the Berlinetta in the Concept Cars category. A dream within a dream, the self-built car made its début and the world’s most prestigious and glamorous elegance competition.
Along with the interest and pleasure shown immediately by the public and the media, this would have gone to anyone’s head. But as we know, the Frigerio brothers aren’t the sort of people who sit on their laurels, and they decided the play another chip. They realised that their idea could become something more than just an adventure, and decided to exploit their years of relationships, acquaintances, friendships and skill to set up a workshop to produce the Berlinetta in small series. An exclusive, tailored and fully customisable product. Built as in the past by a handful of old craftsmen wanting to get back in the game, but with the help of the best technologies available today.
The lines of the Berlinetta need no explanation. They are a well-balanced mix of classic, late-50s stylistic elements, from the muscular bumpers to the oval grille, a hint of rear fins and the double bubble roof. The definition of the lines of the car talks of an approach that is about as poetically anachronistic as you can get. The Frigerio brothers started by placing the mechanics and seats on the floor, tracing the basic outline around them with chalk, then gradually building the chassis, welding, cutting and welding again. Following the curves of the tubular metal frame, they then moved onto the bodywork, beaten entirely by hand in aluminium according to the artisanal sensitivity of Vittorio, who has a good hand, assisted by a few panel beaters with forty years’ experience. And from there, the project moved on in a kind of reverse engineering, working backwards by making 3D scans of the shapes to produce the drawings and designs.
Style and proportions have that instantly recognisable Italian flair, as does the passenger compartment, entirely leather-lined with a dashboard painted in the same colour as the car, and the Alfa Romeo-derived mechanics. Who, working according to the Fia Gr2 specifications of the 1971 European Touring challenge, they were able to achieve around 200 HP at 6800 rpm, with maximum torque of around 30 Kg/m at 4400 rpm, on the road with no technological support.

Gears & Analysis - Laser Manson [STYLE Series #004 - Muse (August 2010)]
Tumblr media
Laser Manson Light artwork with crushed mirror top and laser emitter.
This instrument, with a deliberately split plastic mirror on the body top, was introduced for the recording of ‘Absolution’ and was used on stage until around 2007. The basic specs are similar to the ‘Delorean’, with a mahogany body, bird's eye maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. The sides and back are covered with aluminium plates as on the ‘Delorean’. Pickups are a Rio Grande ‘Bastard’ (front) + ‘Crunchbox’ (but later each were replaced by a Bear Knuckle ‘P-90’ type single coil ‘Mississippi Queen’ + high-gain humbucker ‘Nailbomb’). The same as the ‘Delorean’ with Roland GK-2A, piezo pickup in the bridge, ‘Fuzz Factory’ and ‘Phase 90’ circuits. The main feature that makes this guitar original and different from other Manson guitars is the built-in red laser light emitters all over the body. This is where the name ‘Laser Manson’ (or ‘The Laser’) comes from. The idea of firing this laser beam seems like something Matthew would like, but in fact it seems to have been Mr Manson's idea, not Matthew's. According to Manson, he heard that the band was going to perform at the Reading Festival and came up with the idea as a device to enhance the band's stage presence there. Incidentally, each laser emitter is connected to a microprocessor built into the main unit, which changes the amount of light emitted according to the band's performance. Three 9V batteries are used to emit light. However, the lasers only work well when the stage is smoked or dark, and the guitar is said to be quite heavy.
Controls Laser emitters are located in several places on the body and head, including two on the pickguard, and emit a red laser when switched on. The red laser emits a red light when switched on, which, combined with the reflection of the mirrored plastic on the top, gives the guitar an outstanding stage presence. The unit also has a number of controls, including the built-in effectors (‘Fuzz Factory’ and ‘Phase 90’), each of which is assigned the same functionality as the ‘Delorean'.
Back View The body back is not mirrored but, like the Delorean, is made of laminated aluminium sheet over wood. The beautiful bird's eye neck with a faint tiger's eye can also be seen. There are several small holes in the middle of the body, probably for assigning a trimmer to adjust the output of the laser beam.
Translator's Notes: Again, a typo error from the editors of STYLE.

Tumblr media
Parked on a street in Chinatown, Bangkok. Vintage unknown. It has been there for decades, has licence plates and is in driveable condition as far as I can tell.
. . . .
It is easy to get nostalgic about old Land Rovers. Everything about them contradicts the 21st century. They are or were basic machines with heavy steel frames and aluminium bodies that were riveted together. The passing of time did not seem to affect them.
Introduced in 1948 and made in what was then the heartland of English car manufacturing (Coventry, Solihull), they stood for a less complicated time when everything was mechanical and nothing was virtual.
Eventually economic reasoning caught up and production was halted in 2016. I remember wistfully looking at some of the last remaining models sitting in dealers' showrooms in such remote places as Ponta Delgado (in the Azores) or Suva (in Fiji). By then Land Rover was no longer very British. Ownership of the brand had shifted to BMW in 1994, then to Ford before being sold to the Indian Tata conglomerate in 2008.
. . . .
Tumblr media
The real thing, Santanas, in Andalusia.
Classic Land Rovers are in essence farm vehicles. As such they have remained a common sight in the countryside of southern Spain, their colour the same as the dry Andaluz soil at the height of summer. Wherever olives grow you will find Land Rovers, especially the Spanish variant which was built for many years under license by Santana.
Long before production ended, Land Rovers had also become yuppie toys, often in gleaming black. Worse, the new owners of the brand decided that even if the vehicle no longer made commercial sense, the name and the outdoorsy mystique were worth preserving.
Tumblr media
Imagine my irritation when I was confronted, some weeks ago, with this reality, the ultimate in urban sophistication on wheels, parked on a street in Nagoya, Japan (above). Notice the subtle pastel paint job which actually refers to the early production models, painted the same green as commercial aircraft before delivery. It was the only paint they could find in postwar Britain, the legend goes.
I suppose it was inevitable that Land Rovers would go the way of the Range Rover. It started off more than fifty years ago as a country squire's all terrain vehicle, designed to take the bumps. Although it was a definite step up from the Land Rover, it still had solid axles front and rear, and a manual gearbox. But over the years it evolved to its current status as the rich person's SUV-limousine of choice with price tags exceeding a quarter of a million euros. But the old ones are still around, farm vehicles once more, popular with sheep farmers and wine growers.
Tumblr media
Object of enduring fantasy. Vintage Land Rover Defender with all the trimmings on a street in Turin, Italy, June 2024.

Accidental Time Travel Starter
[ For @the-haunted-office | Pete and Val | Prompt List ]
The dust begins to finally settle, revealing a brushed aluminium Deluxo with the registration plate "PEEPEE". There are tons of wires protruding from its trunk as well as... thrusters? Surprisingly, the car has managed to drive through numerous walls of what seems to be an office and still managed to remain somewhat pristine. The drivers side door swings open, revealing an older gentleman. His hair is only just starting to go grey- but he's still looks like he's quite young. He has a spring to his step, adding to his youthful nature. He steps out of the Deluxo, his eyes widening in fear as he looks at the mess he has just caused.
"Val, for fucks sake." A harsh voice pipes up from the passenger side of the car. He's coughing his lungs up from all the smoke spewing from the Deluxo. His hair has grown out long enough for it to be tied back off his face. From its original soft brown, his hair has completely greyed, with a subtle tinge of pink dyed into the ends. He looks so much older, with sun spots dotting his cheeks and deepened wrinkles. "Just because it's a Deluxo, doesn't mean you and that idiotic agent can somehow make it time travel. This isn't Back to the Future." Val puts on a jokey frown as he waves some of the smoke away.
"Aw come on Pete, it's not like it would actually work. We were just having fun trying some new things our science team made." Val mutters as he looks at the extent of the damage to both their new environment and the Deluxo. "Plus- it was a lot of fun to zip around in this thing." There's so many odd things occurring right now- when they were test driving this super science-y Deluxo, they were in the Fort Zancudo military base on a runway made for military planes and things like that. There was no offices in front of them. Yet, here they are, in the remains of some kind of office.
"Wait, someone's coming." Pete speaks as he joins his brothers side, looking towards the source of the sound.
"Hello fellow bodacious dudes, dudettes and duderinos." Val calls out to whoever is approaching them. He's speaking in a very emphasised stoner voice- earning him a hateful glare from Pete. "My name's Val! And this is my totally excellent bro, Pete. I promise- we'll fix all this wall stuff." This earns Val an elbow in the ribs, causing Val to double over in pain momentarily.
"Come on, let's get this car out of here and back to the base." Pete huffs, continuing to wave the smoke away from his face.
"Wait, hold on a second..." Val speaks normally, breaking his stover vibe. "Stupid question, but what year is this?"

I'll have the next Snippet chapter out by tomorrow or the day after that, depending on how much of my day is consumed by Factorio. 🐍
On that note, found the first 4 step recipe in this modpack.
Tumblr media
That's about 3 more steps than anything in vanilla for basic plates. In vanilla you just put ore in a furnace and you get plate.
Here I need to turn water into salt, turn that salt into sodium oxide(theres like 6 different "sodium" materials and I mix them up), turn that sodium and bauxite (yellow ore) into white dust (havent memorized the name yet), and mix that white dust with carbon (I think) to finally get aluminium plates.
My main bus is so wide and Im barely halfway through science packs.
Yeah as you might be able to tell, Factorio consumed this Friday. But good news Im almost done with the next chapter.

El Anatsui, Ghana, from the Eclipse Suite.
The tabletops and wooden boards were 3-D scanned at a very high resolution, routed onto aluminium plates and then printed through an etching press. Black ink was used to access the textural information held both in the intaglio and on the surface; others were worked upon in colour, while others still with chine collé laminates. The artist played with endless combinations and permutations of the resulting prints to create these syntheses. An overlapping pair of prints from one circular tray prompted the artist to imagine a lunar eclipse, resulting in the first completed set of thirteen pieces, named the Eclipse Suite, after the thirteen cycles of the moon. Elsewhere, the bottle-top off-cuts and cassava graters were inked up and printed raw, both on their own and in conjunction with the printed tabletops. For one particularly direct work, coloured ink was laboriously dabbed onto dampened Japanese paper overlaying a large and highly textured tabletop, producing a detailed relief print that bears witness to many years of accumulated mark-making.
